One of the marvel of technology-"THUNDERBOLT"

               Whenever we start transferring data onto our pendrive we always think once that there should be some technology that should literally make life easier for us by increasing the transferring rate.There are many advances in this field but it is always marred by not making our life simpler by some or other mean.some common thing can be as transferring rate will  differ little much between them as not much difference had been made in newer technology .so in this post we are going to take into note this technology which has made life simpler and easier for apple products user.so what comes into your mind when I say port which transfers data at faster rate?
USB 2.0? or USB 3.0?? which can transfer data @ speed of 5Gbit/sec,it can be considered slower compared to technology which we are going to discuss today...so can you all guys decide which technology it can be??
ITS THUNDERBOLT
           Thunderbolt was developed by Intel and brought to market with technical collaboration from Apple. First of all its speed 10Gbps, which is around twice as fast as USB 3.0 and 20x faster than traditional USB 2.0,so it is for you'll to decide what we have in store if this technology is used in our daily life.It was introduced commercially on Apple's updated MacBook Pro lineup on February 24, 2011,so now you know why apple products cost BOMB.
            And you know what it is backward compatible also because Thunderbolt combines PCI Express and DisplayPort into a serial data interface that can be carried over longer and less costly cables. Thunderbolt driver chips fold the data from these two sources together, and split them back apart again for consumption within the devices. This makes the system backward compatible with existing DisplayPort hardware upstream of the driver. so you don't have to worry  if your device support Thunderbolt. You can hook up to 7 daisy-chained devices for multiple connections without affecting performance and in case of USB 2.0, when you connect a non-high speed device, it affects the performance of entire bus.



               Intel Thunderbolt controllers interconnect a PC and other devices, transmitting and receiving packetized traffic for both PCIe and DisplayPort protocols. The thunderbolt controller is developed and supplied by Intel and requires a small connector, which will be bundled in the platforms supporting this tech hence, PCI Express is built-in that makes, external connected devices as fast as internal ones. The above added graphs and images of connector and controller are enough to make you understand how does it itself work and how is its cable.

This thunderbolt technology has wide applicable areas, such as faster storage drives, faster transfers of huge files between PCs, Cameras, DisplayPort as a link to displays and many even unimagined.

When would this technology be introduced to us?

       It was long rumoured that the early-2011 MacBook Pro update would include some sort of new data port, and most of the speculation suggested it would be Light Peak. As the system was described, Intel's solution to the display connection problem became clear: Thunderbolt controllers fold data from existing DisplayPort systems with data from the PCI Express port into a single cable. Older displays, using DisplayPort 1.1 or earlier, have to be located at the end of a Thunderbolt device chain, but newer displays can be placed anywhere along the line.Thunderbolt devices can go anywhere on the chain. In this respect, Thunderbolt shares a relationship with the older ACCESS.bus system, which used the display connector to support a low-speed bus.

so what can be technical description of this technology??


Thunderbolt is based on the physical Mini DisplayPort connector developed by Apple. Mini DisplayPort is electrically identical to Display Port, but uses a smaller, non-locking connector.   
       
        Thunderbolt is inter-operable with DisplayPort 1.2 compatible devices. When connected to a DisplayPort compatible device the Thunderbolt port can provide a native DisplayPort signal with 4 lanes of output data at no more than 5.4 Gbit/s per lane. When connected to a Thunderbolt device the per-lane data rate becomes 10 Gbit/s and the 4 lanes are configured as 2 channels with each bidirectional 10 Gbit/s channel comprising one lane of input and one lane of output. 
what are the main difference from USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt??


First of all  speed of thunderbolt is 10Gbps, which is around twice as fast as USB 3.0 and 20x faster than traditional USB 2.0.

  1. It provides up to 10 watt of power to connected peripherals on the other side, USB 3.0 does, 5watt.
  2. In theory, a single Thunderbolt port thus has four times the throughput of a USB 3.0 port
  3. It can drive greater than 1080p resolution displays and up to eight channels of audio simultaneously.
  4. You can hook up to 7 daisy-chained devices for multiple connections without affecting performance and in case of USB 2.0, when you connect a non-high speed device, it affects the performance of entire bus.

SO NOW MAIN QUESTION ARISING IS WHY DON'T WE USE THIS AWESOME TECHNOLOGY IN OUR REGULAR LIFE??
ANSWER TO IT IS  ITS COST because As of July 2011, the first two meter Thunderbolt cable from Apple costs US$49.00. As an active cable, it includes circuitry inside the connectors. The cable has 5 wires, 1 for management and two uni-directional pairs, one for incoming and second for outgoing traffic. 

so hoping that its cost will reduce and this technology marvel comes to use in our day to day life we end this blog.

STEVE JOBS AWARDED WITH GRAMMY



Apple co-founder Steve Jobs is receiving a Grammy for his technological innovations in the arts.
Jobs is among a dozen people, music groups or companies receiving honourary awards February 11, the day before the Grammys. He died of cancer in October.Grammy organisers called him a ''creative visionary'' for the innovations that include the iPod, iPhone and iPad.
“He took technology and turned it into art, becoming a key player and leader in the entertainment world, particularly music, and changing the way we all use the Internet and consume music, TV, movies, books, graphics, and more,” the Recording Academy said.
Without jobs creating i-tunes the sales for albums and singles would'nt be the same and his innovations that gave the music lovers the heavenly experience.without STEVE JOBS the music industry would not have been the same his grammy is well deserved.

But why does the grammy academy always honours a man after his death?

Mobile Operating systems

      
          Now into third post for my blog I want to thank all people for reading my previous blog post.And again feedback/comment is expected from all reading it.
         Now this topic covers the most important and popular thing among us youth,which is MOBILE PHONE.now again each person has different budget to buy new phone and more importantly different choice,different taste for buying new phone.we always make the choice by the outer display of our phone but we never see the inner thing which goes into its making it,i.e. OPERATING SYSTEM of that particular mobile phone.so through this post i will try my best to get this topic covered as much as I can,and references are also taken from different sites so as to give you exact information and knowledge about the topic.first of all different and popular mobile phones and their operating system are as follows:-

APPLE IPHONE-IOS.

BLACKBERRY phones-blackberry OS.

NOKIA phones-SYMBIAN OS.

SAMSUNG phones-BADA OS,ANDROID OS.
Now let us categories this phones according to their popularity ,usage of operating system

APPLE IOS-
          One of the most advanced phone and phone which is first on any youth or any techno savvy person's mind will be this phone.this phone can be termed as rich man's phone,because as per indian market the starting price for APPLE iphone is around Rs.30000,and is one of the most advanced device consisting of one of the advanced operating system i.e. IOS.Apple Iphone is the device made by Apple.inc.At the MacWorld conference & Expo in January 2007, Steve Jobs revealed the long anticipated iPhone, a convergence of an Internet-enabled smartphone and iPod.
                

Apple does not license iOS for installation on third-party hardware. As of May 31, 2011, Apple's App Store contains more than 500,000 iOS applications, which have collectively been downloaded more than 15 billion times. In the last quarter of 2010, it had a 26% share of the smartphone operating system market in terms of units sold, behind Google's Android and Nokia's Symbian. As of May 2010, it accounted for 59% of mobile web consumption—not including the iPad—in North America.

              Blackberry is the most desirable thing for the most of the youth just for its feature of supporting various social network's application.Blackberry is best known and most used for its messenger i.e. blackberry messenger. BlackBerry is a line of mobile e-mail and smartphone devices developed and designed by Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM) since 1999.They are primarily known for their ability to send and receive (push) Internet e-mail wherever mobile network service coverage is present, or through Wi-Fi connectivity. They support a large array of instant messaging features, including BlackBerry Messenger.

SYMBIAN OPERATING SYSTEM-
            Symbain operating system is the operating system which has got the strong support of mobile phone giant Nokia.even when nokia got chance to adopt new operating system i.e android they choose to stay with their old operating system.now more market is being taken away by different operating system giants comprising of Android,blackberry and Iphone.
              Symbian is a mobile operating system (OS) and computing platform designed for smart phones and currently maintained by Nokia. The Symbian platform is the successor to Symbian OS and Nokia Series 60; unlike Symbian OS, which needed an additional user interface system, Symbian includes a user interface component based on S60 5th Edition. The latest version, Symbian^3, was officially released in Q4 2010, first used in the Nokia N8.Symbian OS was originally developed by Symbian
          From 2010, Symbian switched to using standard C++ with Qt as the Software Development Kit, which can be used with either Qt Creator or Carbide. Qt supports the older Symbian S60 3rd and 5th editions, as well as the new Symbian platform. It also supports Maemo and MeeGo, Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.(note:As of 2010, the SDK for Symbian is standard C++, using Qt. It can be used with either Qt Creator, or Carbide (the older IDE previously used for Symbian development)).

       Bada (pronounced /ˈbɑːdɑː/ and styled as bada) is a mobile operating system being developed by Samsung Electronics for use on mobile phones, ranging from low-end feature phones to high-end smartphones. Samsung announced the Bada platform on 10 November 2009. The name 'Bada' is derived from the Korean word for 'ocean' or 'sea'.
        After the announcement, the Wave S8500 was first shown at Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona in February 2010. At that time, applications running on the first Bada phone were demonstrated, including Gameloft's Asphalt 5.After the launch, companies such as Twitter, EA, Capcom, Gameloft and Blockbuster showed their support for the Bada platform.
             In May 2010, Samsung released a beta of their Bada software development kit (SDK) to attract developers. Samsung also began the Bada Developer Challenge with a total prize of $2,700,000 (USD). In August 2010, Samsung released version 1.0 of the SDK.
             The first Bada-based phone was the Samsung Wave S8500, released on June 1, 2010,which sold one million handsets in its first 4 weeks on the market.

In July 2010, Samsung Apps had 300 applications to offer, 70% of them being free. Samsung expected to have 7000 applications in its application store by the end of 2010. It did not achieve this aim and has around 3000 applications at the end of the first quarter of 2011.


Android Operating system-          Android is a most famous operating system for various applications it can support.Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system,middleware and key applications.Google Inc purchased the initial developer of the software, Android Inc., in 2005.Android's mobile operating system is based on the Linux kernel.The Android operating system is currently the world's best-selling Smartphone platform.Android has a large community of developers writing applications ("apps") that extend the functionality of the devices. There are currently over 200,000 apps available for Android.
       Android Market is the online app store run by Google, though apps can also be downloaded from third-party sites. Developers write primarily in the Java language, controlling the device via Google-developed Java libraries. Google released most of the Android code under the Apache License, a free software and open source license.Android, Inc. was founded in Palo Alto, California, United States in October, 2003 by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, in Rubin's words android is "...smarter mobile devices that are more aware of its owner's location and preferences."
Various versions of ANDROID operating system are:-
            
   Android has seen a number of updates since its original release. These updates to the base operating system typically fix bugs and add new features. Generally, each new version of the Android operating system is developed under a code name based on a dessert item. Past updates included Cupcake and Donut. The code names are in alphabetical order (Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich).
The most recently released versions of Android are:
2.0/2.1 (Eclair), which revamped the user interface and introduced HTML5, W3C Geolocation API and Exchange Active Sync 2.5 support
2.2 (Froyo), which introduced speed improvements with JIT optimization and the Chrome V8 JavaScript engine, and added Wi-Fi hot spot tethering and Adobe Flash support
2.3 (Gingerbread), which refined the user interface, improved the soft keyboard and copy/paste features, and added support for Near Field Communication
3.0/3.1 (Honeycomb), a tablet-oriented release which supports larger screen devices and introduces many new user interface features, and supports multicore processors and hardware acceleration for graphics. The Honeycomb SDK has been released and the first device featuring this version, the Motorola Xoom tablet, went on sale in February 2011. The 3.1 update was announced at the 2011Google I/O on 10 May 2011.
3.2 (Honeycomb), which is similar to 3.1 but optimized for 7-inch tablets. On 20 June 2011, Huawei Technologies unveiled the MediaPad, which is the World’s First 7-inch Android 3.2 Honeycomb Dual-Core Tablet (running on a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Chipset).
The upcoming version of Android is:
4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), a combination of Gingerbread and Honeycomb into a "cohesive whole."It was announced on May 10, 2011 at Google I/O that it will be released in Q4 2011.
